ASSEMBLY SERIES LECTURE FUND

As part of the Club’s 75th Anniversary Celebration, they raised over $11,000. They had a variety of fundraising events and programs, including historical house tours, a bazaar, a dinner-auction in honor of Elizabeth Danforth, and the sale of anniversary tote bags and aprons. The money was used to establish the Assembly Series Lecture Fund which helps pay for one speaker every year as part of the University’s Assembly Series Lectures.

The first of these lectures was a reading and commentary by Mona Van Duyn, poet and Washington University professor, on April 24, 1985. Other past speakers include 1990: Alex Haley; 1995: Katha Pollitt; 2003: Amy Chua; and many others.

THE WOMAN’S CLUB ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP

In 1990, the Club’s Executive Board decided to establish an Annual Scholarship for University College students. The funds came from surplus Club funds and/or donations. They award one scholarship each year.

THE WOMAN’S CLUB CENTENNIAL SCHOLARSHIP

In honor of the Club's centennial year, the Woman's Club of Washington University established an endowed scholarship for students attending University College. The fundraising goal of $50,000 was exceeded by June 2009. This fund will provide a $2,500 annual scholarship to one student enrolled in University College at Washington University. Club members want to continue to play a part in making Washington University a financial reality for all students.
